Dominican Treasures was developed by The Dominican Consortium for Competitive TourismInc. (CDCT), as part of a project funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), to promote competitiveness and sustainability for the Dominican touristic industry.

The CDCT promotes sustainable development and competitiveness for the tourism sector by public-private partnerships, positively impacting economic return, environmental protection, including communities to the main sectors of Dominican economy, based on the cluster model.

The following are the existing national tourism clusters: Barahona, Constanza, Jarabacoa, La Altagracia, Montecristi, Pedernales, Puerto Plata, Romana-Bayahibe, Samana and Santo Domingo.  It also supports tourism enterprises (such as eco-hotels, guide associations, restaurants) that offer opportunities to local communities and promote environmental conservation.
